St John Matha founded the Trinitarian Order to ransom and rescue Christian slaves. At his first Mass, in 1193, the Saint had a vision of Christ with a Christian and a Muslim slave. He determined that the freeing of captives should be his vocation. He was aided in this by Our Lady of Good Remedy, through whose intercession much funds were raised to aid the missions.
