Saint Jude

Apostle Jude - Anthony van Dyck

Not sure why this coming storm is called ‘Saint Jude’*. But in the circumstances, let us pray to him for all those at peril. Someone has also suggested praying the Memorare:

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thine intercession was left unaided.

Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my mother; to thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me.

Amen.

*UPDATE: I did not realise that today (Monday 28 October), when the storm hit, is the feast of St Jude. Mea culpa. As far as the storm went, so far three deaths have been reported. May they rest in peace.

St Bernard’s Memorare is a wonderful prayer to remember to say each day. God bless!
